Taste For a Cure for Cystic Fibrosis

SERESC Conference Center
Bedford, NH
Rosie with her Parents
With Rosie and her mom Paula
I am so honored to have met and so impressed with everyone I've gotten to know at the CF Foundation in NH and all that they do to find a cure for CF! I've been fortunate to have met some truly inspiring people in my time, but few have made a lasting imprint on my heart. I have so much respect and admiration for Paula Garvey as a woman, as a mother, as an advocate for her daughter and family and as a role model. She is an amazing woman, one that HAS made an imprint on my heart! This past year, I've had the privilege of wearing a crown as I represent the state of NH as Mrs. New Hampshire. At Taste For a Cure, I presented a VERY SPECIAL crown to the inspiration behind Taste For A Cure, the lovely Miss Rosie Garvey! The crown I presented her was made out of Swarovski Crystals in the shape of Roses for Rosie! The crown represents Rosie's Strength and Courage that she has not only for herself, but for those both with and without CF. She truly is an INSPIRATION for all of us! Thank you so very much for having me be part of this event as the Honorary Chairperson - it was MY Honor! We raised over $100,000 ~ FANTASTIC! To learn more about Cystic Fibrosis and about Rosie, please go to her website at http://www.rosiesroses.yolasite.com/

NH Cystic Fibrosis Foundation

My Visit to the NH Cystic Fibrosis Foundation ~ Nashua, NHI was asked to be the Honorary Chair for the 4th Annual Taste For a Cure for CF event by a friend whose daughter has CF. This is for the Garvey Family. I have to say, I have never met a more dedicated mother, who on a daily basis puts forth so much time and effort to raise funds to help find a cure for CF. Her daughter Rosie, a 6th grader has CF. A sweet and adorable young lady that is precious and needs to finsd a cure!

I made a visit to the CF Foundation in Nashua, NH to meet the folks that head up all the efforts for NH. Truly inspiring people! I am so honored to have met them and be working with them to make this event a HUGE Fundraiser whose funds raised go towards finding a cure for CF.

WMUR Cook's Corner TV Segment

WMUR Cooks Corner Segment
"Girl Scout Cookie Ice Cream Pie"

I had the great honor of being asked by the council of the Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains to do a Girl Scout Cookie Segment for them on WMUR, Channel 9 news on Cooks Corner here in New Hampshire on Friday, February 12th, 2010. The Girl Scout mission is to "build girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place". To think that there are 17,000 girl scouts with 5,600 trained volunteers in that council is just amazing! As a Girl Scout leader for the past 3 years, it was such a thrill! I was asked to promote the Girl Scout mission and the Cookie Booth Sales promotions while showing how to make a recipe made out of Girl Scout cookies! I came up with a recipe of "Girl Scout Cookie Ice Cream Pie" using my favorite girl scout cookie, Thin Mints. In 2009, over 1.5 million Girl Scout cookies were sold - that's incredible! I did the segment LIVE on the 12pm news with Erin Fehlau, who is so sweet! Thank you to Girl Scouts and WMUR for making this a day to remember! My hubby and baby girl were also with me - so it was extra special!
The above picture is when I was in the WMUR News Studio behind the News Desk! Not bad for a day, huh? I think I like how I look behind that desk, heheheheeee ~ HINT HINT! Maybe if WMUR ever needs an "extra" person on the set to fill in - they can call on me to broadcast stories on exceptional volunteers in our state! Thank you ~ I had the best time EVER!!

Getting ready with Erin Fehlau behind the set!

It's Girl Scout Cookie time!!
Making my Girl Scout Cookie Ice Cream Pie!
With the beautiful and lovely Erin Fehlau of WMUR! We did the Cooks Corner Girl Scout segment together and she was so sweet and calmed my nerves too! Thanks for letting me share a moment of your spotlight and for being so kind! It was a blast! Wow - it's Kevin Skarupa! I had the opportunity to watch him do his Weather Broadcast LIVE - it was so cool! Thanks so letting me into your weather world! With Mary Ellen Hettinger, Public Relations Manager from the Girl Scouts of Green and White Mountains before the Girl Scouts Cookie Segment! Thanks so much for the opportunity to represent the Girl Scouts! With my baby girl behind the Cooks Corner Set, showing that "Everything made by Girl Scouts is made with lOVE"! With my baby girl behind the Storm Watch Weather News Desk - she was so excited - I think she even had a prediction on the weather to share!
